  • 9/28/10 – IIA National Conference

Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) 2010 National Conference

    September 26-29, 2010, Vancouver, BC

Edward Nagel will be speaking on the following topic:

“Mitigating Risk and Conducting an Effective Fraud Investigation”

It is widely believed that fraud is a growing business.  When fraud allegations surface, how—and how quickly an organization responds will directly impact the potential loss that may result—be it financial, reputational or otherwise.  Enabling employees with the skills to identify possible “red flags” of fraud will help mitigate risk and damage to the organization.  Citing real-life cases, this session will provide first-hand experience about different ways fraud is perpetrated and the “red flags” that are present in each case, which should have alerted employees.  This session will cover fraud investigation best practices, use of technology in perpetrating and investigating fraud and the critical role of internal auditors in an investigation.  It will also include a discussion about practical strategies to prevent and detect fraud in the current economic climate.
